It begins with a lost job... an injury or prolonged illness... a separation of parents... a fire or some other damaging disaster. Within weeks, a family that has been "getting by" is suddenly under tremendous financial pressure. Within months, their home may be gone or a family torn apart.

To prevent this kind of catastrophic damage, Gateway Community Outreach acts quickly, working with families to overcome a problem while it is still manageable. Through direct and personalized assistance, it is often possible to work through a family's crisis and get "people back on their feet" before any significant damage is done.

This life-saving program is made possible by churches and individuals who care about our community and who partner in Gateway's unique outreach to help their neighbors in need. Through your financial support, Gateway is able to purchase food and other critically needed supplies, as well as provide mentoring and assistance with urgent household expenses.

For two years in a row (2003, 2004) Gateway was selected as one of three not-for-profit organizations to represent the City of Deerfield Beach in the All-America City Award.

In 2003, the city of Deerfield Beach, FL became an All-America City. In 2004, although the city was not selected, the experience of the application process, the special friendships made, and the prestige of being a finalist, will be long remembered by all participants.
